My friend Sean Carpenter suggested we do a weekly show around sports. From that conversation, Sports Talk And Real Estate (STARE)Down was born. We hope you enjoy a couple of sports nuts sharing a beer and our thoughts.

June 4, 2017 – In Episode 60, the boys discuss Jack’s Memorial Tourney, Tiger’s trouble, the NBA and NHL playoffs, a little MLB and of course, a bit of soccer. Sean also gives us the details of his semi-annual trip to Kalispell Montana as he continues his quest to have a run-in with a bear.

May 28, 2017 – Episode 59 of The Stare Down takes a look at the NBA and NHL Finals. Sean, Todd and Bill make their predictions for each series. Can Sean continue his amazing streak? Stay tuned! Todd updates all the Soccer fans and congratulations to Riley Carpenter on her graduation!

May 21, 2017 – While Bill entertains visitors in St Petersburg, Sean and Todd take the reins of The Staredown and cover the playoffs in the NBA and NHL, The Byron Nelson in the PGA and a little MLB as well.

May 14, 2017 – Episode 57 finds the boys covering The Players Championship and the improbable victory of Si Woo Kim. Other topics covered include the Spurs/Cavs Game One of the Western Conference finals, NHL playoffs, MLB, EPL, and the ball girls at the Madrid Open. Yep, the ball girls.

May 7th, 2017 – In Episode 56, Sean, Todd, and Bill continue to chat about the NBA and NHL playoffs. Todd schools the boys in soccer in England again, and listen in as none of them can name the last Triple Crown winner. Can you?

April 30, 2017 – In Episode 55, Todd takes the week off to do a little night fishing. Yep, night fishing. We should get a full report next week! Sean and Bill recap the Zurich, NHL and NBA playoffs, the Major League Baseball injury situation and the ESPN Black Thursday affair. Bill does his best to handle the EPL shout out as well.

In Episode 54, Sean, Todd, and Bill cover the NHL and NBA playoffs, The Valero and the upcoming run to the US Open, the Fed Cup in Tampa and the ever-present look at the EPL. Bill goes a bit deeper into real estate with a couple minutes on cyber security and fighting wire fraud in the real estate industry.

April 16th, 2017 – Episode 53 – As the boys start year 2 of the podcast, they realize the excitement of March Madness, the Masters and Opening Day is behind them. What will they do? Of course, they talk about The PGA Tour, MLB, NHL, EPL and the NBA. What should they cover next week?

April 9th, 2017 – The StareDown celebrates one year of shows with Episode 52. The majority of this episode covers The Masters and the improbable comeback of Sergio Garcia and his playoff win over Ryder Cup teammate, Justin Rose. The boys are joined by Ryan Bokros out of Houston as they cover all of Masters Week, the Carolina win over Gonzaga and a few other odds and ends.

April 2nd, 2017 – This week on Episode 51, Sean, Todd, and Bill talk Final Four semi-finals as well as give their final game predictions. Tomorrow is the start of Masters Week, and it gets a big slice of attention as well.

March 26th, 2017 – As the StareDown hits 50 episodes, the boys are deep in March Madness. They do find time to talk WGC and Dustin Johnson’s streak, MLB, NHL, NBA and of course, a brief soccer update from resident soccer freak, @ToddMeininger.

March 19th, 2017 – March Madness dominates again this week, but the boys do find some time to talk golf, hockey and spring training. The movie Get Out also gets some love…

March 15th, 2017 – It’s a special edition of the Stare Down as the boys fill out their brackets the night before The Big Dance begins. Can Bill extend his NCAA winning streak? Todd believes he can!

March 12, 2017 – Episode 48 finds Sean, Bill and Todd discussing lessons learned from sports and children, specifically their own. Sean and his son Ryan stopped in Tampa for a quick round of golf with Bill. A few stories are shared and each of the boys gives their take on the impact sports has on the family. They also cover, EPL, IndyCar, PGA and start the discussion on the NCAA March Madness about to begin.

March 5, 2017 – In Episode 47, Sean, Todd, and Bill cover the WGC Tour event in Mexico, the upcoming NCAA Basketball Conference Tournaments, and the NFL Combines. Somehow, the EPL is not discussed, much to Todd’s dismay. With March Madness just over a week away, the boys may schedule a special Bracket Buster episode the night before the tournament begins.

February 26th, 2017 – Episode 46 was taped on Oscar night, so the boys have a little fun. Of course, the PGA, NCAA Basketball, MLB Spring Training and the NHL are covered. The fun begins when the boys pick their favorite sports movies in a half-baked homage to Hollywood on their big night. Enjoy!

February 19, 2017 – In Episode 45, Sean and Todd hold down the fort while Bill tries to call in from Reagan National while boarding his flight back to Tampa from a business trip to Washington DC. The boys cover the Genesis Open, touch on the Masters, All-Star Games in the Big 4 sports, College basketball and baseball. As always, the English Premier League comes up too!

February 12th, 2017 – In Episode 44, the boys spend a little time in Monterey CA at Pebble Beach with the AT&T Pro-am. College basketball, the NBA, a touch of hockey and of. course, Todd’s beloved English Premier League and the weekly relegation update are covered.


February 5th, 2017 – Episode 43 finds Sean, Bill, Todd and Ryan recapping the greatest Super Bowl of all time led by the greatest quarterback of all time and the greatest coach of all time. Sounds great, right? We also talk a bit of real estate as well…

February 5th, 2017 – The boys and special guest from H-Town and home of Super Bowk 51, Ryan Bokros, talk about the game.

January 29th, 2017 Golf and Tennis (what?!) dominate the discussion on Episode 42. With the Farmers in San Diego marking Tiger’s return, the boys give their takes on the outcome. Also, the Australian Open gets it’s due as Serena and Roger add on to their staggering Grand Slam totals.

January 23rd, 2017 – Episode 41 covers the AFC and NFC Championship Games, the NBA All Star voting, a bit of NHL, PGA Tour and the Australian Open. NCAA Basketball also is on the radar for this and future episodes of The StareDown.

January 15th, 2017 Episode 40 was recorded seconds after the end of the thrilling Packers win over the #1 seed Dallas Cowboys. That game is discussed as are the Saturday games. The majority of the conversation is on the College National Championship Game. Sean, Bill, and Todd also give their Final Four picks for next year in college football.

January 9th, 2017 – In Episode 39, We do something a little different with the podcast recorded on Monday, January 9th, right before the National Championship game between Alabama and Clemson. In addition to the game, the boys talk about the NFL playoffs and the FA Cup in the EPL. Really. That’s a thing.

January 1st, 2017 – In Episode 38, we crown the winner of the first StareDown College Bowl Game Pool. Bill dominated the pool, winning with 8 games left to go! The final week of the NFL, Sean’s Blue Jackets and Todd’s EPL get their coverage this week. Bill does his first episode from the road, literally the road between El Paso and Ft. Stockton.

December 25th, 2016 – Episode 37, recorded on Christmas Night, focuses on Week 16 of the NFL. The playoff picture is rounding into shape, and the boys share their thoughts on both conferences. Of course, Sean plugs the streaking Blue Jackets of Columbus and the StareDown Bowl competition is updated.

December 18, 2016 – In Episode 36, Sean, Todd, and Bill cover the opening day of the College Football Bowl Season, recap the day in the NFL, and Sean crows about the Blue Jackets one more time. We also get the Premier League update from Todd and everyone discusses the passing of Craig Sager and Alan Thicke.

December 11th, 2016 – Sean, Todd and Bill spend the majority of the show picking all 41 college football bowl games. Need sone advice for you “Pick-em” pool? No guarantees here, but some great insight is shared. Games begin December 17th and we are excited to crown the first StareDown Bowl Game Champion!

December 4th, 2016 – Episode 34 is recorded on the day of the final CFP results and Conference Championship weekend. The playoff matchups dominate the podcast. Sean, Bill and Todd do find time to talk NFL and Tiger’s comeback bid. Next week, bowl predictions will kick off Ep. 35!

November 27th, 2016 – Episode 33 covers Rivalry Week in college football, the CFP debate and The Game. We also recap the weekend in the NFL, including Thanksgiving Day. Sean stumps Bill once again with the last question. What is the significance of number 859? Tune in to find out!


November 20th, 2016 – In Episode 32, Sean, Bill and Todd focus on College Football, The NFL, and NASCAR. With so much happening in the college game, the show spends quite a bit of time looking at the possibilities for the CFP. Watch for a report on the Tampa Lightning from Bill next week.

November 13th, 2016 – In Episode 31, Sean and Bill discuss the wacky weekend in College Football as the 2,3 and 4 seeds in the CFP all lose. What does this mean for teams like Ohio St., Michigan, and Penn St? Check out Sean’s breakdown of the situation. We also look at the day in the NFL and actually bring up the NHL for a bit, as promised.

November 6th, 2016 – In Episode 30, Sean and Bill have fun reliving arguably the greatest Game 7 ever played in the World Series.  The Cubs end the curse, and the Indians have nothing to be ashamed about.  They also run down the week in college football as well as the NFL.  The boys also promise to up the coverage on basketball and hockey going forward.

October 30th, 2016 – In Episode 29, the World Series is in full swing with Game 5 at Wrigley playing out during the show. Can the Cubs keep the dream alive or do the Indians end their drought? We also talk NCAA football and the NFL. We promise to get going on the NBA and the NHL soon!


October 23, 2016 – Episode 28 With the World Series featuring the Indians and the Cubs, much of this episode discusses both teams, their paths and the magnitude of the event. Sean and Bill also discuss the week in college football as well as the NFL. Bill shares details of his trip back to San Diego for the 30th Yoo Hoo Shower of the San Diego Smokey Joe Rotisserie League while Sean shares the story of his daughter’s High School Golf State Championship Tournament.

October 16, 2016 – In Episode 27 of The STAREDown, Sean and Bill look at the League Championship Series in MLB, College Football as we approach the first playoff rankings, and the week in the NFL.

October 9th, 2016 – In Episode 26, Sean and Bill focus on the MLB playoffs, NCAA football and the week in the NFL. Sean lays out both sides of the Florida-LSU game cancellation and the ramifications it may have in the SEC. Bill also tries to figure out the San Diego Chargers year without much success.

October 2nd, 2016 – In Episode 25, Sean and Bill are busy with college football, the NFL, and the final day of the MLB season and the upcoming playoff.  More importantly, the Ryder Cup was played at Hazeltine in Minnesota this weekend with a USA victory of the Europeans. Sean and Bill give their takes on the event and all the hoopla surrounding it.

September 25, 2016 – Episode 24 is jam packed with late breaking news from September 25th. Just before we recorded the show, the news of Arnold Palmer’s passing was released. Combine that with the passing of the Marlin’s 24 year old ace, Jose Fernandez and Vin Scully’s last Dodger home game, we had a lot to cover.

We also spend time on college football, the NFL and the Tour Championship.


September 18, 2016 – n Episode 23 of The STAREdown, Sean and Bill talk a bit more than usual about their real estate worlds, putting the RE in STARE! They also recap the wildcard races in Major League Baseball. The deeper dives are in football, both NCAA and the NFL.

Bill gives his breakouts and busts in fantasy, even as he personally heads to 0-2 in both of his leagues!

The Pint Glass O’Discussion returns with another great topic to discuss. That’s obvious.

September 11th, 2016 – In Episode 22 of  The STAREDown, Sean and Bill have a lot to cover. US Open tennis, FEDEX Cup playoffs, MLB pennant and wild card races, NCAA Football and the opening week of the NFL.  We also touch on fantasy football stars of the week.


September 4th, 2016 – This week in Episode 21, Sean and Bill talk about the first week in College Football. Upsets, beat downs and poignant moments are all covered.

Other topics include the NFL, MLB, The US Open and the PGA Tour.

The Pint Glass O’ Discussion asks “If you could own any sports franchise, which one would you won?” Listen in to hear Sean and Bill answer this important question!


August 29, 2016 – In Episode 20, Sean and Bill talk The Barclays, College Football, Colin Kaepernick, Daily Fantasy Sports and Fantasy Football.  The Pint Glass o’ Discussion still has topics left, so we pull one more.

August 22nd, 2016 – In Episode 19, Sean and Bill wrap up the Olympics, discuss the MLB races and talk about the AP Top 25 in College Football. And as always the case, they tackle the Pint Glass o’ Discussion


August 15th, 2016 – Episode 18 is dominated by talk of the Rio Olympics, with golf, swimming and gymnastics wrapping up.  The boys also find time for MLB, NFL, and the Pint Glass O’ Discussion returns with a very tough question!


August 8th, 2016 – Episode 17 finds Sean Carpenter traveling to see family, so Ryan Bokros of Bamboo Realty in Houston, Texas takes his seat on the STAREDown.  We talk Olympics, A-Rod, Ichiro, HOF Game, and Inman Connect San Francisco 2016.


August 1st, 2016 – In Episode 16, we talk PGA Championship, MLB trade deadline, Olympics and Tim Tebow.  Tim Tebow?  Inman Connect comes up as well as the Pint Glass O’ Discussion.


July 25th, 2016 – In Episode 15, Sean and Bill discuss The Canadian Open, the upcoming PGA Championship, Chris Sale’s meltdown, the Hall of Fame inductees, Adam Silvers’ decision on Charlotte and the ever present Pint Glass O’ Discussion.


July 18th, 2016 – In Episode 14, Sean and Bill cover the Open Championship, A bit of the Tour de France, The Espy’s, MLB, and a bit of Tom Brady.  And, as always, the Pint Glass O’Discussion delivers a topic to discuss.


July 11th, 2016 – In Episode 13, the discussion covers Wimbledon, US Women’s Open, The All Star Break for MLB, and Euro Cup Soccer.  And the pint glass o’discussion makes another appearance.


June 26th, 2016 – In Episode 12 we cover The PGA Tour, Pat Summit, MLB, Soccer and the Pint O’ Discussion question is Best/Worst Uniforms!


June 19th, 2016 – This episode features the US Open at Oakmont Country Club.  Sean was able to attend on Father’s Day with his daughter and Bill did his best to watch every minute from the comfort of his sofa.  They also touch on Game 7 of Warriors/Cavs, as the podcast was recorded during the 3rd/4th quarters.


June 12, 2016 – In Episode 10, Sean and Bill follow Game 6 of the Stanley Cup, discuss the upcoming game 5 of The NBA Finals and Chat about the 116th US Open at Oakmont Country Club.


June 5th, 2016 – In Episode 9, Sean Carpenter and Bill Risser discuss the NBA and NHL Finals, the passing of Muhammad Ali and the Memorial Golf Tournament.


MAy 29, 2016 – Episode 8 talks about the upcoming game 7 for the Warriors and Thunder, game 1 of the Stanley Cup with the Sharks and Penguins, A wrap up of The Colonial and the weekly random discussion item.


May 22nd, 2016 – In Episode 7, Sean and Bill commiserate about their golf games, discuss the on-going conference finals in the NBA and NHL. Baseball, The Preakness and the French Open also get into the mix.

May 15th, 2016 – In Episode 6, Sean and Bill talk about the Player’s Championship, the hockey and basketball conference finals, and a little baseball.  Dean Ouellette calls into the show as well.

Sean and Bill also discuss the relocation of the broadcast to Sunday nights (7pm PDT/10pm EDT) in order to align with the PGA and the work week. This means the STARE Down podcast will publish every Monday morning instead of Fridays.


May 5th, 2016 – In Episode 5, Ryan Bokros and Jimmy Mackin join in on the Sports Talk and Real Estate discussion.
